But this might just take the cake.

Kinja'd!!!

This is a post from Cynthia Brehm, the GOP chair in Bexar County, which includes San Antonio. I had to go look up !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but it was a secret CIA program that ran from 1953-1973 that used all sorts of drugs, torture, abuse, etc. to influence people to act in a certain way and be subject to CIA control. So I think that what she is saying is that the whole George Floyd thing was some sort of Order 66/ Manchurian C andidate thing, and the cop was “activated” to kill Floyd on camera in a staged incident to incite black people against Trump and influence the election because because African Americans had started supporting Trump .

Kinja'd!!!

And here, I thought all we had to worry about was the fluoride.

Thankfully, Gov. Abbott has called for her immediate resignation, and other GOP officials are doing the same.

I’ve long had the impression the local political operatives (not the elected people, the campaign flacks) are some of the most deranged people

That gif is the perfect summation of me trying to make sense of today’s conspiracy theories. I’m with you and kind of miss those lunatics rambling about fluoridated water and moon landing hoaxes...

How mainstream these nutters conspiracy theories have become is a nightmare- remember pizzagate? That feels like a lifetime ago when republicans had a disappointingly large amount of people convinced that Hilary Clinton was running a child sex ring out of a random pizzeria...

Because he should be at home since I’m sure she’s convinced he did nothing wrong.

Actually, he’s probably holed up in some Motel 6 somewhere in protective custody. He wouldn’t last 5 minutes in jail.

I do - I used to regularly use fluoridated water as mind control as a reference to crazy people until I found out a coworker of mine believed that. Like seriously - a person my age (25 at the time) , college educated, generally intelligent thought that Fluoride in the water was a government plot to subjugate us...

He then started going off on a weirdly aggressive tirade about the evil of Mormons - I no longer talked to him after that. This was back in ~2009 long before Romney hit the global stage and christian conservatives pretended they liked Mormons.

I always wonder if the people who immediately jump to accusations of false flag operations are the ones most likely to actually try to use false flag operations.

I’m most surprised , however, to find that you did n’t know what MK Ultra was. It’s a good song from a great album.

Wow, there’s crazy, and then there’s crazy crazy. I’m surprised she didn’t find a way to work fluoridated water, the Jews, and the Trilateral Commission into all of that.

Also, pretty sure Trump’s support among African Americans today is pretty much exactly the same as it was a month ago. Just saying. The small number that supported him already are obviously going to continue to do so, and the large  majority that hated him before probably just hates him even more now.

Nothing in that article phases, surprise, or even raises an eyebrow based on the contents of my local and neighborhood FB feeds or things local people or coworkers say. The years leading up to and certainly this year have allowed people to fly their freak flags loud and proud. It is disturbing.

Locally to me, it’s where all of the wingnuts/discreet racists/inciters seem to hide out, where fb is just a place for luckyboomers to bitch and moan about millennials and how good things used to be (with an occasional tacit death thread lobbed at elected officials, words that would get people of other backgrounds a visit from men in black Suburbans).

Neither give me bright hope for the future.

Fringe shit like this makes its way into supposedly legitimate right leaning publications all too easily. Faux News might not be the batshittiest of them, but it’s often pretty damn batshit. They promoted the hell out of the Seth Rich conspiracy which was a part of the whole QAnon “deep state operatives led by Hillary are running a pedophile ring in the basement of a neighborhood pizza/ping pong restaurant in a fancy part of DC” nonsense where that one dude showed up at the restaurant with a gun looking to shoot the pedophiles . Said restaurant is still open and still receiving threats several years later.

The whole right wing media sphere has long since gone past a political slant and descended into misinformation and outright propaganda. It goes hand in hand with the modern Republican party which is also all too fond of inventing its own warped version of reality to support its positions.

Basically every Republican I know personally has become a fountain barfing up this propaganda. These are friends, former co-workers, inlaws, etc. They’re generally reasonable people but get them talking about anything remotely political and all of a sudden it’s like they’re from another universe, like Spock with a goatee.

It’s particularly satisfying to me to tell them their propaganda is in fact propaganda. They get PISSED.

It’s described as a maximum security facility (doesn’t look especially secure, but who knows, the construction certainly looks very odd).
